Lawless Lures Honor Roll Mention On AEC Field Hockey Week Report
Lancaster, Pa. – (11/1/2021) – With six saves in a 1-0 loss at #5 Kean University (10/27), Gwynedd Mercy University freshman goalkeeper
Morgan Lawless (Bristol, Pa.) was mentioned on this week’s
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Field Hockey Honor Roll. Despite a 25-2 shot advantage and a 19-1 edge in penalty corners, the Cougars needed an extra frame to overcome the Griffins in the regular season finale. There, Lawless fended off every attempt but the last as junior forward Peyton Mann (Nazareth, Pa.) and senior forward Ja'Carra Jackson (Magnolia, Del.) connected for the game-winner at 64:35.
Gwynedd Mercy University (5-13) battled Kean University (17-1) behind Lawless’ stellar play and her stalwart back line. Lawless recorded the six saves, but got help protecting the Griffin goal with five defensive saves split between senior defender
Jordan Truntich (Harwood, Md.) (2), senior defender
Kaci Murray (Chalfont, Pa.) (2), and junior defender
Alexis Schambers (West Chester, Pa.). Murray (61:58) and senior attack
Lauren Jani (Coopersburg, Pa.) (62:16) were responsible for the Gwynedd Mercy University shots, both came in the extra frame after an early Kean University foul.
