Gunnar Christensen (Finksburg, Md.) earned a spot on the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll with a game-winning goal (1-0, 26:46) in the Griffins' 1-0 victory over Keystone College (Sept. 4). He was joined on the Honor Roll by Marymount University midfielder/forward Erick Shoetter-Rojas (Centreville, Va.) and Saint Elizabeth University junior forward Brandon Quishpi (Elizabeth, N.J.). Centenary University (N.J.) senior defenseman/midfielder Brandon Morales (Wharton, N.J.) was named the AEC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, while Immaculata University sophomore goalkeeper Luca Greppellini (Newbury, England) was named the AEC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Gwynedd Mercy University (1-1) opened its 2026 season with a 3-0 Tuesday night setback at DeSales University (1-0). The Bulldogs struck early, scoring just 3:06 (1-0) into the contest. The Red and Gold defense settled in after the break and limited DeSales University to just four second-half shots. Unfortunately, Gwynedd Mercy University did not capitalize on their limited opportunities and weather ended the contest in the 71
st minute (70:31). Christensen made a start, but did not record any shots.
Three days later, Christensen's first-half goal was all the Griffins needed to complement a shutout performance from junior goalkeeper
Cody Sell (Souderton, Pa.). The Red and Gold wasted little time establishing its attack as Christensen generated Gwynedd Mercy University's first opportunity just over five minutes (5:07) into the contest and another just before the 17
th minute (16:59). The pressure eventually paid off in the 27
th minute (26:46), when junior defenseman
Dominic Lodise (Bensalem, Pa.) set up Christensen for his first goal of the season. Christensen finished the contest with
Gwynedd Mercy University is back in action on Wednesday, September 9, when they travel to Delaware Valley University for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
