Aston, Pa. - (4/8/2026) - Gwynedd Mercy University (8-15, 2-4) revisited their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) schedule with this afternoon's twin bill at Neumann University (10-14, 3-3). Junior third baseman
Hannah Cohen (North Wales, Pa.) was 2-for-4 with three runs-batted-in (RBI) in the opener, while four early Red and Gold runs and a strong pitching duet from freshmen
Rylie O'Toole (Southampton, Pa.) and
Rylie Fitzsimmons (Philadelphia, Pa.) paved the way for a 4-2 win in game two. Cohen was 3-for-7 with a run and four RBI between the two games.
Griffin Highlights - Game One
- Junior first baseman Kassidy Kehoe (Lansdale, Pa.) led off the contest with a double to left center and she moved around the bases with a ground out and a hustle home on an incomplete double steal; 1-0.
- Down 6-1 in the fifth inning, Kehoe reached on an error with one out, she stole second with two outs, and scored along with senior shortstop Hannah Smith (Levittown, Pa.) on Cohen's double; 6-3.
- Gwynedd Mercy University scored their fourth run in the seventh inning. There, Kehoe and freshman second baseman Macey Harrold (West Deptford, N.J.) singled before a Smith walk and a Cohen fielder's choice brought it home; 8-4.
- In addition to Cohen, Kehoe (2-for-4), Harrold (2-for-4), and junior catcher Maya Hellyer (Quakertown, Pa.) (2-for-4) also recorded multiple hits. Kehoe scored three runs.
- Smith drew three walks in excess of of a third-inning single (1-for-1).
Griffin Highlights - Game Two
- Kehoe reached on an error to lead-off the Griffins' first at-bat. A sacrifice and another error put her at third base before a Cohen double (1-0) and a triple from freshman center fielder Nya Brown (Whitehall, Pa.) (3-0) gave the Red and Gold an early 3-0 lead.
- Gwynedd Mercy University added another run in the second inning, using another Knight error, a sacrifice bunt, a ground out, and a single to right from Harrold; 4-0.
- O'Toole (3.1 IP, 6H, 2R, 1BB, 1K) and Fitzsimmons (W, 3.2 IP, 3H, 1BB, 1K) did their best to split the 21 outs. The latter earned the win (2-1) by holding Neumann University scoreless over the final five.
Gwynedd Mercy University continues a busy week tomorrow, Thursday, April 9, as they host Penn State Brandywine for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
