Mel Velasquez (Philadelphia, Pa.) and sophomore
Tyson Scheitrum (Harrisburg, Pa.) earned spots on the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's Track and Field Weekly Honor Roll for their contributions to the Griffins' seventh-place finish (7th of 10, 23 total points) at Elizabethtown College's Blue Jay Tune-Up (Apr. 24-25). Velasquez earned the Red and Gold six points in the 400-Meter Hurdles with his third-place time of 1:08.62 before joining freshman
Conner Brennan (Hatboro, Pa.), junior
Christian Lynn (Philadelphia, Pa.), and sophomore
Jamar Gauda (Delran. N.J.) for a second place finish (4:04.76) in the 4x400-Meter Relay. Meanwhile, Scheitrum totaled five points with his throws in the Discus (6th, 37.83, 3 points) and Hammer (7th, 42.59, 2 points). He also placed 15th (11.17) in the Shot Put.
Velasquez and Scheitrum were joined on the AEC Men's Track and Field Weekly Honor Roll by Immaculata University freshman Colin Corkery (Haverford, Pa.) and junior Aaron Cuthbert (Philadelphia, Pa.). The AEC Men's Track Athlete of the Week was Saint Elizabeth University senior Sayfullah Carter (Newark, N.J.), while the AEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week was Marywood University senior Shilo Bivins (Hanover, Pa.).
Gwynedd Mercy University competes next on Saturday, May 2, when they travel to Immaculata University for the 2026 AEC Men's Track and Field Championships. The two-day event is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
