Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (4/11/2026) - Gwynedd Mercy University (9-18, 3-5) split today's Senior Day doubleheader with Atlantic East Conference (AEC) rival, Saint Elizabeth University (13-13, 3-5) as they ended the opener with an 11-2, five inning final before losing game two to the Eagles; 6-3. Freshman center fielder Nya Brown (Whitehall, Pa.) went 4-for-4 with a walk, three runs, and four runs-batted-in (RBI) in the twin bill. In between contests, the Griffins celebrated the collegiate career of senior shortstop Hannah Smith (Levittown, Pa.); a four-year starter and captain for the Red and Gold.

Griffin Highlights - Game One

• Brown singled in freshman designated player Giavanna Kanaris (New Egypt, N.J.) in the first inning to even the score with Saint Elizabeth University; 1-1.
• Gwynedd Mercy University tied it again in the bottom of the third inning, when junior first baseman Kassidy Kehoe (Lansdale, Pa.) scored on an error by the Eagle shortstop; 2-2.
• In a nine-run fourth inning, the Griffins used six hits, a walk, and two more Eagle errors to go up 11-2.
• Freshman pitcher Rylie Fitzsimmons (Philadelphia, Pa.) completed the game with a scoreless top of the fifth for her second win (2-2) of the season. She struck out two Eagles, while holding them to two runs on nine hits and three walks.
• Brown was 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBI. She singled the run in in the second (1-1) before leading off the fourth with a triple and plating two later in the at-bat with a single through the middle; 10-2.

Griffin Highlights - Game Two

• Gwynedd Mercy University scored a run in the fourth inning thanks to one-out triple from junior third baseman Hannah Cohen (North Wales, Pa.) and a sacrifice fly from Brown; 2-1.
• In the sixth inning, Smith tripled with one out before Cohen scored her with a grounder to short; 2-2.
• Later, a two-out walk to Brown, a wild pitch, a beaming of junior pinch hitter Maya Hellyer (Quakertown, Pa.) set the table for the Griffins to score a run on a fielder's choice off the bat of freshman catcher Ashlyn Merz (Bensalem, Pa.); 3-2.

Gwynedd Mercy University breaks from their AEC schedule to visit Eastern University for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday, April 15.
