Davenport, Fla. - (3/6/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University (5-2) looked to continue to build momentum down in Florida as the team took on Clark University (6-1) for an early Saturday morning affair. Both teams exchanged blows throughout the nine innings, but in the end, it was the Cougars who had the final laugh, coming out on top 5-4. Sophomore pitcher Connor Hafto (Washington Township, N.J.) continued his impressive start to his sophomore campaign, going five innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits, and finishing with a new career-high nine strikeouts in the no-decision.  

Griffin Highlights: 

• Down 2-0 heading into the fifth inning, junior outfielder Noah Waldron (Collingswood, N.J.), with the bases loaded, worked a professional at bat, and worked a walk, bringing home senior outfielder Chris Nodeland (Hamilton, N.J.) (2-1). 
• The very next inning, another bases-loaded walk brought the score to two apiece. A balk from the pitcher allowed the red and gold to take their first lead of the game (3-2).  
• Down 5-3 in the bottom of the ninth, the Griffins looked to have one last rally in their bag. Another balk from Clark University allowed junior outfielder Karl Wissman (Cinnaminson, N.J.) to score (5-4). Gwynedd Mercy would not be able find the tying run and fall just short of the comeback.  

Gwynedd Mercy University continues its play in Florida, taking on Albertus Magnus College next Monday, March 8, with a 5:00 p.m. start time.
