Little River, S.C. - (3/16/2026) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-6) brought their stay at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic to a close with Friday's 15-9 victory over Cairn University; the Griffins put four runs on the scoreboard in the first (4-0) and fourth (9-5) innings, before plating six runs in the fifth to finally vanquish the Highlanders. Several Griffins recorded multiple hits, but most noteworthy was a 3-for-4 performance from junior first baseman
Kassidy Kehoe (Lansdale, Pa.) that included a three-run blast in the first inning (4-0) and a two-run single in the fifth inning (13-9). Freshman pitcher
Mackenzie Price (Hatfield, Pa.) earned a win (3-1) in relief as she struck out three while allowing two unearned runs on five hits.
Griffin Highlights
- In the first inning, back-to-back walks for freshman left fielder Stephanie Jones (Hatboro, Pa.) and freshman second baseman Macey Harrold (West Deptford, N.J.) set the table for a run-scoring single to left from senior shortstop Hannah Smith (Levittown, Pa.), 1-0. Two outs later, Kehoe connected for her first collegiate homer to give the Grifins a four-run head start; 4-0.
- Junior third baseman Hannah Cohen (North Wales, Pa.) doubled home a run in the second inning with a two on and one out; 5-2.
- Smith singled with one out in the fourth inning. Cohen followed with another single, but it was a string of two-out singles from Kehoe, junior designated player Maya Hellyer (Quakertown, Pa.) (7-5), and freshman center fielder Nya Brown (Whitehall, Pa.) (9-5) that put the Griffins back in the driver's seat.
- With a couple walks, four hits, and an error, Gwynedd Mercy University scored six runs in the fifth inning; 15-9.
- Smith (3-for-5), Cohen (3-for-5), and Kehoe (3-for-4) each recorded three hits, but Hellyer had the most hits in the game as she was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action back north on Thursday, March 19, when they visit Haverford College for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
