The Red and Gold erupted for eight first-quarter scores, 8-0 (1:03), and took a calculated 11-0 (0:48) lead into the halftime break. Joe Oriold (Southampton, Pa.) led defensively with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, while sophomore goalkeeper
Alexander Guardino (Lumberton, N.J.) needed just six saves and a ground ball in the win (4-3).
Griffin Highlights
- The Red and Gold controlled every statistical category as they outshot the Highlanders 77-13, collected more groundballs (65-19), and went 24-of-29 (.828) in the faceoff circle.
- Senior faceoff specialist Jake Tedeschi (Goshen, N.Y.) led the efforts in the circle, tallying a career-high 22 faceoff wins while recovering a team-high 11 ground balls. He also scored the Griffins' sixth goal of the game (6-0, 4:39 1QTR).
- Senior attack Josh Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) recorded the assist on the first goal of the contest from Ciran (1-0, 13:33 1QTR) for his 100th collegiate career point.
- Ciran's six-point effort was supported by four ground balls, while five-point efforts from senior defensive midfielder Zac Womer (Gilbertsville, Pa.) (4 goals, 1 assist) and freshman midfielder Cooper Lachowicz (Toms River, N.J.) (4, 1) were only of a few of the Griffins' multiple-point performers.
