Gwynedd Mercy University (2-0) opened the 2026 season in emphatic fashion on Saturday (Feb. 21) afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader against Notre Dame of Maryland University (0-2) at Frank O. DeCarlo singled the final Griffin run home in a three-run seventh inning.
Following Inglisa's game-one win, sophomore pitcher
Connor Hafto (Washington Township, N.J.) earned the victory (1-0) by tying his career-high six strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. DeCarlo knocked runs with a fielder's choice in the second inning, a double down the left field line in the fourth inning, and a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. A fourth Griffin run scored off his bat in the fifth inning as junior center fielder
Noah Waldron (Collingswood, N.J.) crossed the plate on a throwing error by the Gator third baseman.
With inclement weather postponing Gwynedd Mercy University's Tuesday (Feb. 24) contest at Rutgers-Camden, the Griffins are scheduled to return to Genuardi Legends Baseball Field on Friday, February 27, when they host Penn State Hazleton for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
