Lancaster, Pa. – (2/18/2026) – The last in a recent series of league announcements, Commissioner Rebecca Mullen has officially released the results of the
2026 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Baseball Preseason Poll. 2025 AEC Baseball Champion, Marymount University garnered top billing in the standings forecast with six of the seven available first-place votes and 36 total points. Gwynedd Mercy University ranked sixth with 11 total points.
Behind the Saints (36 total points, 6 first-place votes), the league's seven head coaches ranked Neumann University (31, 1), Centenary University (N.J.) (24), Immaculata University (23), Marywood University (14), the Griffins (11), and Saint Elizabeth University (8). The Knights earned the remaining first-place votes among their second-place points.
An April-13, 5-4 win over Centenary University (N.J.) and an April-25 sweep of the defending AEC Champions, Immaculata University (W, 2-1/W, 9-8) accounted for Gwynedd Mercy University's conference success in 2025, but it failed to qualify them for the 2025 AEC Baseball Championship Tournament. At 13-25 overall and 3-12 in league play, three Griffins garnered All-AEC recognition as First Team honors for senior pitcher/outfielder
Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.) and junior infielder
Jimmy DeCarlo (Ridley Park, Pa.) were complemented by a Second Team laurel for sophomore pitcher
Michael Inglisa (Delran, N.J.). Root went on to earn his second D3Baseball.com All-Region V selection with a Third Team honor at the utility position; he was also named the 2024-2025 Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Male Senior Student-Athlete of the Year, before joining Coach Brooks staff for the 2026 campaign.
Gwynedd Mercy University is scheduled to open the 2026 season on Friday, February 20, when they host Eastern University for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
