Griffins Secure Half Dozen AEC Wins with Decided Victory over Cannoneers

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (1/28/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University (13-6, 6-2) was in control of tonight's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) affair with Pratt Institute (10-9, 2-6) from the opening tip and they built on a 43-39 (0:38) halftime lead with a decisive 41-28 second half; the result was an 84-67 league victory for the Red and Gold. Graduate guard Dylan Harris (Bloomsburg, Pa.) scored 16 of his 23 points in the first half; the Griffins captain hit four of his six threes (6-of-7, .857) in the opening period while also finishing with a team-high seven rebounds. Senior guard D.J. Johnson (Norristown, Pa.) finished the contest with 15 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

  • Harris shot Gwynedd Mercy University through the first half, he was 4-of-5 (.800) from long range as he gave the Griffins their first lead at 18:18 (5-2).
  • The Griffins held a 43-39 lead heading into the halftime break shooting 47.4% (9-of-19) from the three-point range and a perfect 4-4 (1.000) in free throws during the first half.
  • In the second half the Griffins extended their lead into double digits thanks to a free throw by senior guard Jalen Snead (Philadelphia, Pa.), 60-50, 13:33. He finished with six points, five assists, a block, and two steals.
  • Sophomore guard Cam Lane (Levittown, Pa.) added another six points to the Griffin total, while also grabbing four rebounds.
  • Senior guard Devin Benson (Philadelphia, Pa.) contributed a team-high nine bench points thanks to three (3-of-6, .500) long range buckets.
  • 13 Griffins saw action; they recorded 24 points off turnovers and 11 second-chance points.
Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, February 4, when they host Marywood University for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
