Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (9/8/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-3) turned in a hard-fought performance on Monday evening, pushing Lancaster Bible College (2-1) to the final whistle in a 2-1 decision in the Griffins' home opener. After conceding an early goal in the 17th minute (17:48), the Griffins settled into their rhythm and generated quality chances throughout both halves. Their persistence was rewarded midway through the second period when senior forward Kira Bradley (Langhorne, Pa.) converted a perfectly placed header off a long throw from sophomore defender Paige Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.), knotting the score at 1-1 in the 69th minute (69:37). The equalizer energized the Griffins, who continued to apply pressure with a strong midfield presence and multiple set-piece opportunities.The match remained deadlocked until the final minute of regulation (89:08) when Lancaster Bible managed to sneak in the go-ahead goal. Despite the late tally, the Red and Gold showed grit and determination, highlighted by the outstanding work of senior goalkeepers Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) (5) and Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) (2-2) (8), who combined for 13 saves on the night.
