Winco's Late Game Heroics Leads To Victory Over Nittany Lions

Media, Pa. - (9/6/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-2) had not scored a goal since their season opener (August 29). Looking to find their offensive groove, the Griffins played their final road game in their early four-game road trip as the team took on Penn State Brandywine (0-1). Gwynedd Mercy had plenty of chances in the early portions of the contest but was finally able to break through at 36:54 with a shot from junior midfielder Bridget Cannon (Bensalem, Pa.) (1-0), netting her team-leading second goal of the season. The Nittany Lions did not go away quietly as Brandywine evened the score with just under 17 minutes to play (73:15). Sophomore defender Samantha Winco (Chalfont, Pa.) played hero in today's matchup as she scored with just a little over six minutes left in the contest (83:24), securing a 2-1 victory.

  • Senior goalkeeper Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) started her third contest in net for the red and gold, finishing with seven saves in 85:32 minutes of action in the win (2-1). Senior goalkeeper Madisonn Ronn (Philadelphia, Pa.) played the final 4:28 in the match.
