Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (9/11/2025) -Â Gwynedd Mercy University (3-2) jumped out to an 11-5 start and won the opening set versus Alvernia University (3-2) by a 25-23 measure. Unfortunately, the Golden Wolves evened the score with a 25-23 win of their own in the second set and went on to victory with subsequent wins of 25-22 and 25-23; 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23). Kate Etter (Chambersburg, Pa.) (11) both recorded double-digit kills, while freshman setter
Brynn Crooks (Philadelphia, Pa.) was a factor as well with four kills, 26 assists, five aces, and 15 digs.
Griffin Highlights
- Gwynedd Mercy University used a match-best .280 (10K-3E-25TA) hitting percentage to secure their 25-23 win in the first set.
- In the second set, the Griffins kept the score close early and led by 23-20 late. But a closing 5-0 run propelled Alvernia University to a 25-23 win,
- The Golden Wolves controlled the third set to a 25-22 conclusion, but needed to overcome a 17-11 Red and Gold lead to win the fourth set; 25-23.
- Gwynedd Mercy University matched Alvernia University nine aces; in addition to Crooks, sophomore outside hitter Annalise Kuppel (Estell Manor, N.J.) (2), sophomore libero Marley Robbins (Medford N.J.) (2), sophomore middle hitter Emma Hastings (Collingswood, N.J.) (1), and freshman defensive specialist P.J. Mendoza (Kennett Square, Pa.) (1) contributed to the effort.
- Pugh finished with 13.0 points as she added two solo blocks and two block assists to her 10Â kills.
- Etter finished with 12.5 points as she added three block assists to her 11Â kills.
