Reading, Pa. - (4/22/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (10-21) traveled to Albright College (3-27) for their final road game of the 2025 season. The Red and Gold completed the two-game sweep against the Lions with a 4-2 game one victory and a 7-5 win in game two. In game one, senior pitcher Emily Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa.) pitched a gem in game one going six innings while allowing seven hits, one earned run, one walk and recording one strikeout in the win (2-10). In game two, sophomore pitcher Grace Carney (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) earned her first win in the 2025 season, pitching five innings, allowing seven hits, one earned run, and striking out one in the win (1-4). 5th year pitcher Jocelyn Baumeister (Willow Grove, Pa.) earned saves two and three on the year, with saves in both contests.
Griffin Highlights:
Game One:
- Gwynedd Mercy picked up the first run of the contest with a first inning run thanks to a fielding error from the centerfielder, giving the Griffins an early 1-0 lead.
- Freshman utility player Madison Heim (Orwigsburg, Pa.) recorded the first run-batted-in (RBI) after reaching on a fielder's choice, scoring sophomore first baseman Kassidy Kehoe (Lansdale, Pa.) (2-1).
- Kehoe in the very next inning hit an RBI single through the right side, scoring sophomore utility player Hannah Cohen (North Whales, Pa.) (3-1).
- Junior shortstop Hannah Smith (Levittown, Pa.) scored the final run for the Red and Gold in the top of the seventh after the Lions' shortstop had a fielding error (4-2).
Game Two:

After Albright scored five runs in the first inning, Gwynedd Mercy scored their seven unanswered runs in the sixth inning. A fielding error and wild pitch brought home two for the Griffins, while a single from Cohen, 5th year outfielder Shylynn Cordero (Allentown, Pa.), and sophomore infielder Avery Schwartz (Collegeville, Pa.) brought home three. A walk from freshman outfielder Chloe Heckman (Bethel, Pa.) and an RBI groundout from Heim led to the 7-5 game two victory.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to Frank O. Genuardi Legends Field Thursday, April 24, when the team hosts Penn State Harrisburg for a doubleheader matchup. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
