Hackettstown, N.J. - (2/18/2025) - Centenary University (N.J.) (11-14, 5-7) brought a five-game Atlantic East Conference (AEC) winning streak to an end with a 75-72 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University (20-4, 8-3) this evening. Senior guard Mike Marable (Philadelphia, Pa.) did all he could to keep the Griffins in contention, but an 8-of-15 (.533) showing at the free throw line and a 38-24 Cyclones rebounding advantage led to the upset. Gwynedd Mercy University placed four players in double figures; Marable was one of two Griffins with a dozen points, while junior guard Jalen Snead (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Red and Gold with 14 points off the bench.

Griffin Highlights

• Senior guard Aquil Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit a three-point basket to give Gwynedd Mercy University their largest lead of the game; 25-15 (9:59).
• Unfortunately, Centenary University chipped away at the Griffin advantage, using 42 points in the paint and 31 points off Griffin turnovers (16).
• Snead paired his career-high 14 points with two rebounds, and two assists.
• Marable finished with 12 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
• Graduate guard Shawn Summers Jr. (Montclair, N.J.) also recorded 12 points. He also offered a team-high six rebounds, three assists, a block, and a steal.
• Senior forward Dom Thomas (Mullica Hill, N.J.) was the fourth Griffin in double figures. He finished with 10 points on 5-of-6 (.833) shooting.

Gwynedd Mercy University brings their AEC and regular season schedules to a close on Friday, February 20, when they welcome Neumann University to the Griffin Complex for an 8:00 p.m. Alumni Day contest.
