Nittany Lions Never Have a Shot as Harris Gets Hot

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (12/8/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (6-2) consistently found Dylan Harris (Bloomsburg, Pa.) for open perimeter shots and he made Penn State Abington (1-10) pay for leaving him so open as the graduate guard hit six from long range (6-of-9, .667 3PT%) in a career-high 22-point performance. In a 86-70 victory, the Red and Gold found their first double-digit lead with 7:33 (27-17) remaining in the first half. A late Nittany Lion push made the halftime spread look competitive; 39-33 (0:59), but the second half was a different story as a hot-handed Harris helped the Griffins put the contest out of reach early in an 86-70 conclusion. Five Griffins finished in double figures; Harris was complemented by sophomore guard Bruce Smith (Philadelphia, Pa.) (11 points), senior guard Jalen Snead (Philadelphia, Pa.) (10), senior guard D.J. Johnson (Norristown, Pa.) (10), and junior guard Zaiyin Keys (Chichester, Pa.) (10).

Griffin Highlights
  • Johnson hit the three-pointer that gave Gwynedd Mercy University their first double-digit lead late in the first half. The Griffins quickly pushed the difference to 14 points, 31-17 (6:18), on a couple slick scores from Smith (7:01, 6:18) before having to slow the Nittany Lions' late first-half rally.
  • Harris hit a three to open the second half, 42-33 (19:37), and finished a Johnson-led fastbreak to quickly find double-digits in the second half; 44-33 (18:56).
  • The Griffins' lead maxed at 22 points, 69-47 (9:03), and the benches emptied for the final two minutes.
  • Harris was 8-of-11 (.727 FG%) from the field. He also recorded an assist.
  • A balanced team rebounding effort was led by first-time starter, senior guard Jake Okon (Yonkers, N.Y.), who grabbed six boards in addition to an assist, two blocks, and a steal.
  • Junior guard Mazen Sayed (Chichester, Pa.) was a major contributor as well with seven points, four rebounds, and five assists.
Gwynedd Mercy University takes the court next on Saturday, December 13, when they visit Brooklyn College for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
