Morristown, N.J. - (11/1/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (6-15, 1-4) picked up their first Atlantic East Conference (AEC) win of the season with today's 3-1 (25-21, 26-24, 12-25, 25-15) victory at Saint Elizabeth University (9-16, 2-4), thanks large in-part to the effort of junior outside hitter
Kate Etter (Chambersburg, Pa.) (18.5 points) and senior middle hitter
Charlotte Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa.) (13.0). Both recorded double-doubles; the former paired 16 kills with 18 digs, while the latter totaled 13 kills and 16 digs. Their performances were fueled by senior setter
Ayanna Gaston (Middletown, Del.), who contributed two kills, 32 assists, four aces, and two digs to the triumph.
Griffin Highlights
- Gwynedd Mercy University recorded double-digit kills in both of the first, two sets as 14 kills and a .146 (14K-8E-41TA) hitting percentage come from behind for a 25-21 win in the first set and 11 kills and a .103 (11K-8E-29TA) hitting percentage helped them endure to a 26-24 win in the second set.
- It was the Griffins' eighth match of 10 aces of more. They finished with 13 as Gaston's four were complemented by multiple service marks from freshman libero P.J. Medoza (Kennett Square, Pa.) (3 aces), sophomore defensive specialist Marley Robbins (Medford, N.J.) (2), sophomore outside hitter Annalise Kuppel (Estell Manor, N.J.) (2), and Etter (2).
- Etter totaled her 16 kills on a .300 (16K-4E-40TA) hitting percentage. With two aces and a block assist, she totaled 18.5 points.
- All of Pugh's points came on kills. She made three assists in excess of her points and digs.
- Kuppel matched Etter for the team-high in digs with 18. She also recorded a kill and two assists to her aces and digs.
