New York, N.Y. - (10/8/2025) – Despite creating several scoring chances and leading the match in corner kicks, the Gwynedd Mercy University (7-5-1, 1-1) came up short on Wednesday evening, falling 5-0 to Atlantic East Conference (AEC) foe Pratt Institute (5-3-2, 1-1) at Randall's Island.
Senior forward Kira Bradley (Langhorne, Pa.) led the offensive effort with three shots, including one on target, while freshman defender Addyson Sparks (Philadelphia, Pa.), sophomore midfielder Anna Nicosia (Columbus, N.J.), and sophomore defender Paige Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.) each registered shots on goal.
Between the posts, senior goalkeepers Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) (3-4-1) and Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) split time in goal, combining for nine saves on the day. Gablein made five stops in the first half, while Ronn turned away four shots in the second to keep the Griffins in striking distance.
Griffin Highlights:
- The red and gold generated consistent offensive pressure throughout the contest, tallying 11 total shots and nine corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net against a sharp Pratt defense and goalkeeper tandem.
- The Griffins were especially active in the opening half, earning five corner kicks and forcing three saves from Pratt's keeper.
- Gwynedd Mercy only managed four shots in net during the 90 minutes, while the Cannoneers recorded 14.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday, October 11, as the team hosts Marymount University for a 12:00 p.m. kickoff.
