Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (10/11/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University (7-6-1, 1-2) welcomed Marymount University (6-6-2, 3-0) for an Atlantic East Conference (AEC) rainy Saturday matinee. Both teams played suffocating defense throughout the 90 minutes, but it was the Saints who found the back of the net twice to escape with a 2-0 victory. Defensively, the duo of senior goalkeepers Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) (4-2) and Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) combined for six saves in goal, turning away multiple dangerous chances to keep the Griffins within striking distance. Ronn made four saves in the opening half, while Gablein added two more after halftime in a solid relief effort.
Griffin Highlights:
- The red and gold kept the pressure on throughout both halves, matching the Saints in possession and producing 11 total shots, four of which landed on target.
- Sophomore defender Paige Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.), sophomore defender Elena DiPrinzio (Warrington, Pa.), and junior midfielder Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) each tested the Marymount keeper, while freshman forward Drew Bark (Philadelphia, Pa.) nearly broke through late with a shot that struck the crossbar in the 85th minute (85:08).
- The Griffins earned three corner kicks and held the Saints to just two in the second half, controlling tempo and territory in stretches of play.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to AEC play on Saturday, October 18, as the team travels to Neumann University for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
