Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (10/17/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (5-11, 0-2) celebrated the collegiate careers of a senior quartet of setter Ayanna Gaston (Middletown, Del.), setter Amanda Lopez (Houston, Texas), defensive specialist Samantha Peralte (Morrisville, Pa.), and middle hitter Charlotte Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa.) before battling Centenary Universirty (N.J.) in to night's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) match. The Griffins feed off the crowds' energy to take the opening set by a 25-17 measure. Unfortunately, the Cyclones disappointed the Griffin Complex faithful twice as they gained control of the affair with back-to-back wins of 25-23 and 25-22, before ruining a potential comeback with a 15-9 deciding-set win; 3-2 (17-25, 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 15-9). Junior outside hitter Kate Etter (Chambersburg, Pa.) led Gwynedd Mercy University with 21 points (20 kills, 2 block assists) thanks to a determined effort from Gaston; 10.0 points (5 kills, 2 aces, 2 solo blocks, 2 block assists), 27 assists, and 10 digs.

Griffin Highlights

• Gwynedd Mercy University came out strong, feeding off the Senior Night festivities for a 25-17 opening-set win. They hit .500 (12K-3E-18TA) in the frame and pulled away midway through.
• After enduring the Cyclones' second and third set success, the Griffins found something in the fourth set as they evened the evening with a second 25-17 victory. This time they hit .107 (9K-6E-28TA) and separated from Centenary University (N.J.) with a late push.
• In addition to her points, Etter also recorded three assists and nine digs.
• Pugh helped Gaston keep the ball in play and complemented Etter on the attack with eight kills, six assists, two block assists, and a team-high 13 digs
