Red and Gold Battle Weather Elements and Bobcats

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (9/7/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (1-0-2) welcomed the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg to the Athletic Complex as a steady downpour in the early parts of the contest played a role in the contest for the Griffins. Gwynedd Mercy was held to a season-low four shots and one shot on net in the match, while junior goalkeeper Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) stood tall in net letting the Red and Gold walk away with a 0-0 draw. Gablein finished with a season-high 11 saves and started all 90 minutes in the tie (1-0-2).

Griffins Highlights:

  • The only shot for Gwynedd Mercy came early in the first half (4:35) when sophomore forward Ksenia Semenovykh (Warrington, Pa.) placed her shot into the Cougar's goalkeeper's hands. Semenovykh finished with a team-high three shots, while sophomore forward Demmi Fox (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) finished with the only other shot for the Griffins.
  • With the weather elements, the Red and Gold struggled to keep the ball in the offensive zone allowing the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg 11 corner kick opportunities.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues its homestand at the Athletic Complex to take on Rosemont College on Wednesday, September 11 for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
