Gwynedd Valley, Pa. (5/4/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University hosted the final day of the 2024 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's and Women's Track and Field Championship where many set new personal records (PR) and even one group set a new AEC championship meet record! For the women, personal records were set in the Discus Throw by senior Meghan LoStracco (Chalfont, Pa.) (3rd, 24.18m), junior Maddie Stancil (Lincoln University, Pa.) (7th, 19.93m) and freshman Alexandra Papadopoulos (Conshohocken, Pa.) (8th, 19.58m). Also, records were set by sophomore Mikayla Brennan in the 1,500-Meter (10th, 6:02.49) and 800-Meter (9th, 2:51.78), freshman Kelsey McFarland in the Long Jump (9th, 3.86m) and senior Natalie O'Neill (Philadelphia, Pa.) in the High Jump (3rd, 1.37m). On the men's side personal records were set by junior Christion Johnson (Middletown, Del.) (Shot Put) (5th, 10.20m), junior Victor Cruz (New Castle, Del.) (400-Meter) (2nd, 50.64), (100-Meter) (2nd, 11.15), (200-Meter (1st, 22.28), junior Mike Marable (Philadelphia, Pa.) (100-Meter) (8th, 12.01), and sophomore Sebastian DeSimone (5,000-Meter) (9th, 18:01.27). In the 4x100-Meter event Cruz, Marable, sophomore Radelson Smith (Levittown, Pa.), and senior Branden Soubik (Lansdale, Pa.) completed a momentous milestoneas their 43.35 timed as an AEC Championship Meet record! Thanks to Cruz's 44 points, the men finish third with 59 points, while O'Neill lead the women to a fourth-place finish with 18 points.
