Seven Unanswered Goals Leads To Victory Over The Knights

Newburgh, N.Y. (3/16/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-6) looked to build on a big win on Wednesday as the team traveled to New York to face Mount Saint Mary College (NY) (0-5). After a quick 3-0 lead for the Knights, the Griffins scored seven unanswered goals and walked away with a 15-4 victory. Both junior midfielder Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) and senior attacker Nick Flamma (Sewell, N.J.) finished with a game-high of four goals. Flamma finished with two assists to give him six points, while Kish finished with one assist giving him five points in the contest.  

Griffin Highlights: 

  • Gwynedd Mercy was disciplined all game as the team finished with only one penalty, while the red and gold had five extra-man opportunities.  
  • The Griffins outshot Mount Saint Marry College 52-18 and outhustled the Knights as they secured 50 groundballs compared to the Knights's 27.  
  • Seven different Gwynedd Mercy players found the back of the net including Flamma (4), Kish (4), senior midfielder Jack Freeland (Riverton, N.J.) (3), sophomore attacker Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) (1), junior midfielder Richie Hughes (Turnersville, N.J.) (1), sophomore attacker Nick Citrigno (Southampton, Pa.) (1), and senior midfielder Justin Carney (Flemington, N.J.) (1).  
  • Junior goalkeeper Jared Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) started in game for the Griffins and finished with four saves in the win (2-6). 

Gwynedd Mercy University travels to Bryn Athyn Saturday, March 23, for their next contest. Faceoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
