Griffins Battle Colonels Through Rainy Weather

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (2/28/2024) - During a late afternoon deluge, Gwynedd Mercy University (0-3) battled Wilkes University (1-2) to a 15-12 loss. The Griffins paced the Colonels through the first quarter with extra-player goals from junior midfielder Alysia Collins (Royersford, Pa.) (3-0, 9:45) and senior attack Caroline Cleary (Chalfont, Pa.) (5-3, 2:05) giving the Red and Gold respective leads of 3-0 and 5-3 before junior attack Hailey Bloom (Margate City, N.J.) scored a late tally to keep them ahead; 6-5 (0:25). Each side scored three goals in the second quarter, leaving Gwynedd Mercy University up 9-8 (3:04) at halftime. Unfortunately, the Colonels scored the only two goals of the third quarter (9:11, 6:57) and outscored the Griffins 5-3 in the final frame.
