Lebanon, Pa. - (10/25/2024) - For their final race before the 2024 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Championships, the Gwynedd Mercy University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Union Canal Tunnel Park this afternoon for Lebanon Valley College's Last Chance Run Fast Meet. There, the Red and Gold first earned a fourth-place finish (4th of 5) in the women's six kilometer (6K) with 110 total points. Senior
Hailey Bloom (Margate City, N.J.) placed 20th with a time of 28:25.0, but she was the only Griffin to complete the course in under 30 minutes. Afterwards, Gwynedd Mercy University placed ninth (9th of 10) in the men's 8K with 262 total points. Junior
Sebastian DeSimone (West Orange, N.J.) was the first Griffin across the finish line as he placed 39th with a run just over 30 minutes (30:12.2).
The hosting Dutchmen claimed victory in both the women's (31 points) and men's (27) races. The 6K champion was Mount St. Mary junior Elizabeth Freymann (Severna Park, Md.), who finished the run in 23:33.7. Meanwhile, the 8K champion was sophomore Liam Allen (Hanover, Pa.), who ran Lebanon Valley College to their win with a time of 26:46.3.
