Griffins Secure Third AEC Win at Marywood University

Scranton, Pa. - (4/12/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (5-7, 3-0) gained another valuable Atlantic East Conference (AEC) win with today's 10-8 triumph at Marywood University (5-8, 1-3). The Griffins gained their edge with extra goals in the second and fourth quarters as they led the Pacers by a goal at halftime, 6-5, and two at game's end. Junior attack Jason Eide (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) recorded the game-winning tally with 10:02 (9-7) remaining in the contest; he (2 goals, 3 assists) and junior midfielder Justin Carney (Flemington, N.J.) (4 goals, 1 assist) both finished with five points.

Griffin Highlights
  • Gwynedd Mercy University sandwiched a pair of goals in between Marywood University's first-quarter bookend goals; Carney assisted sophomore attack Dominic Romania (Phoenixville, Pa.) on the first (1-1, 9:11) and sophomore midfielder Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) found Eide for the second (2-1, 8:55).
  • The Griffins gained a 4-2 edge early in the second quarter thanks to back-to-back goals from Carney (3-2, 12:38) and Romania (4-2, 10:03). A man-up goal from Kish (5-3, 5:00) and a closing score from Carney (6-5, 0:38) preserved Gwynedd Mercy University's advantage for the second half.
