Career Day for Women's Lacrosse Defense in Loss to Pacers

Gwynedd Valley, PA - (4/12/23) -  The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Lacrosse Team fell 2-16 to Marywood University on Wednesday night.

Highlights:
  • Freshman defender, Devyn Becker, used her strength and quick footwork to hold her marks to zero goals throughout the entire game.
  • Senior goalkeeper, Reilly Owens, made an outstanding 13 stops including shutting down many fast break opportunities.  
  • The Griffins' Defensive Unit picked up 15 of the team's 16 groundballs.  This accomplishment includes a career high 3 groundballs for Freshman defender, Ayana Lyons and 5 for Sophomore midfielder, Cheyenne Avellino.
  • Junior, Lindsay Anderson, caused a career high 3 turnovers. 
  • Junior attacker, Kristin Varilla, won 4 of the team's 7 draw controls and put one point on the board. 

The Griffs will be back in action this Saturday for a 1pm start against Neumann University.  They will be celebrating their senior, Reilly Owens, before and after the contest.
