Men's Lacrosse Celebrates Seniors With 21-11 AEC Win over Mighty Macs

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - Prior to defeating Atlantic East Conference (AEC) rival Immmaculata University (7-4, 0-1) by a 21-11 final, Gwynedd Mercy University (3-7, 1-0) honored a three-man senior class consisting of defenseman Sam Flamma (Sewell, N.J.), long stick midfielder Jared Manbeck (Womelsdorf, Pa.), and goalkeeper Chase McFeeley (Mullica Hill, N.J.). The Griffins built on an 8-3 first-quarter edge with a 4-2 second-quarter advantage, 12-5; the difference reached double-digits on an unassisted score from freshman attack Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) (17-7, 7:23 3QTR) and rested at 18-8 (2:54) for the fourth-quarter break before Gwynedd Mercy University earned their first conference victory.

Griffin Highlights
  • Gwynedd Mercy University set or shared season-highs in points (33), goals (21), assists (12), and shots (67) in an impressive 10-goal victory over the Mighty Macs.
  • The Griffins were in possession of the ball for a majority of the affair with a 22-of-35 (.629) success rate on the face-off and 18-of-22 (.818) efficency on the clear.
  • Gwynedd Mercy University recovered 43 ground balls to Immaculata University's 24.
  • Junior attack Jason Eide (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) and Seaman each finished with eight points; the former pair his three goals and five assists with three ground balls and a caused turnover, while the latter recovered two ground balls in excess for six goals and two assists.
  • Sophomores, midfielder Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) (3 goals, assist, 3 ground balls, caused turnover) and attack Richie Hughes (Turnersville, N.J.) (goal, 3 assists, ground ball) were each major congributors to the Gwynedd Mercy University success.
  • Junior Evan Courts (Bellefonte, Pa.) dominated the circle with a 20-of-30 (.667) success rate on the face-off. He also recorded 14 ground balls, and caused a turnover,
  • In goal, McFeeley earned the win (2-5) with eight saves, three ground balls, and a caused turnover.
