Seaman Scores Four, Griffins Lose to Pirates in Overtime

Georgetown, Texas - (3/9/2023) - Freshman attack Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) deposited four significant scores, but Gwynedd Mercy University (0-4) suffered another third one-goal defeat as Southwestern University (5-1) netted an overtime game-winner with 2:41 remaining; 14-13. In a highly competitive contest, The Pirates scored the first three goals (14:15, 13:30, 7:38) before the Griffins got on the scoreboard with Seaman's first score (3-1, 4:54 1QTR). Gwynedd Mercy University tied the contest by halftime, 6-6, with unassisted scores from sophomore midfielder Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) (6-5, 7:53 2QTR) and junior attack Jason Eide (Pleasant, Calif.) (6-6, 5:45 2QTR), but still needed a pair of fourth-quarter, game-tying goals from Seaman (13:13, 2:14) to force the additional period.

Griffin Highlights
  • Gwynedd Mercy University was more efficient on the attack, scoring 13 goals on 36 shots (.361) to Southwestern's 14 goals on 51 shots (.275).
