Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (3/25/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-6) delivered Bryn Athyn College (2-1) their first loss of the season in overwhelming fashion as a six-point (5 goals, 1 assist) day from sophomore midfielder Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) propelled the Griffins to a 17-6 overrun of the Lions. Nine different Griffins recorded at least one score, while goalkeepers Chase McFeeley (Mullica Hill, N.J.) (42:22), sophomore Jared Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) (10:16), and freshman Grady Mumm (Forest Hill, Md.) (7:22) provided solid play behind a strong defensive effort. Prior to the contest members of PAZA: Tree of Life blessed the field with Native American prayer, song, and dance.

Griffin Highlights

• Gwynedd Mercy University out shot Bryn Athyn College 54-20 and was successful on 18-of-25 (.720) of their clear attempts.
• The Griffins turned the Lions over a season-high 29 times and out hustled them to the loose balls with a 45-38 ground ball edge. They were also 19-of-27 (.704) on the face-off with junior Evan Courts (Bellefonte, Pa.) earning all of the Griffin victories (19-of-25, .760) and recovering eight ground balls. 
• Gwynedd Mercy University esculated a 3-1 advantage with a 6-2 second-quarter and distanced themselves from Bryn Athyn College with a 8-3 second-half spread.
• Kish needed a dozen (12) shots to score a career-high five goals. He also recovered two ground balls.
• Junior midfielder Justin Carney (Flemington, N.J.) offered a strong performance with three points (2 goals, 1 assist) and six ground balls.
• Junior Pat O'Neill (Pennsauken, N.J.) and freshman Dylan Gazda (Pottstown, Pa.) captained a tremendous backline effort; the former totaled four ground balls and caused two turnovers, while the latter recorded three gound balls and caused two turnovers.
• McFeeley earned his first win (1-6) of the season with all all nine of the Griffins saves. He also recorded a ground ball.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Wednesday, March 29, when they visit Susquehanna University for a 4:00 p.m.
