Reading, Pa. - (2/22/2023) - Today's men's lacrosse season opener was not short on drama as Gwynedd Mercy University (0-1) recovered from an 11-6 halftime deficit with a 7-2 third-quarter that evened the affair, 13-13 (0:21) heading to the fourth quarter. Albright College (1-2) scored the first two tallies of the final frame (13:57, 8:54) and the Griffins matched the offense with scores from junior attack

Nick Flamma (Sewell, N.J.) (15-15, 3:35). Unfortunately, the Lions scored last, using a late possession to score the game-winner with 0:43 remaining; 16-15.
Griffin Highlights
- Flamma (7:20, 5:34, 0:03) and Eide (5:20, 5:11) combined for five scores in the first quarter with the former's netting the final tally of the frame with just three seconds (0:03) remaining.
- After the Lions' 7-1 second-quarter, the Griffins clawed back in the game with a 7-2 third quarter that included two goals from freshman attack Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) (14:09, 11:07), a pair of alternating scores from graduate attack John McCreary (Furlong, Pa.) (9:54, 1:21) and Flamma (5:01, 0:29), and a game-tying goal from junior defenseman Sam Summer (Yardley, Pa.); 13-13 (0:21).
- Gwynedd Mercy University out shot Albright College 48-42, nearly perfect on the clear (17-of-18), and forced the home team into more turnovers (15-12), but the Lions controlled the face-offs (26-of-34, .765) and the ground balls (29-13).
- Flamma finished with a career-high seven goals, two ground balls, and a caused turnover.
- Eide totaled four points (3 goals, 1 assist) and recovered a ground ball.
- Senior goalkeeper Chase McFeeley (Mullica Hill, N.J.) recorded a dozen (12) saves in the loss (0-1).
