Lancaster, Pa. – (2/19/2023) – Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Commissioner Jessica Huntley, has officially released the seeding for the upcoming 2022-2023 AEC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. Gwynedd Mercy University's narrow 66-64 victory over Cabrini University earned the Griffins the #3 seed and a Monday, February 20, home quarterfinal against #6 Marywood University (7:00 p.m.). The other Monday quarterfinal will feature #5 Cabrini University at #4 Immaculata University (8:00 p.m.). #1 Marymount University and #2 Neumann University earned byes to the semifinal round, which is scheduled for Wednesday, February 22.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University swept their AEC series with Marywood University, winning the initial meeting against the Pacers by a seven-point margin (W, 95-82 on January 11) and the second meeting by a 10-point margin (W, 80-70 on February 8). Junior guard Manny Clark (Pottsgrove, Pa.) went off for a career-high 38 points in the first meeting between the Griffins and Pacers. Clark hit four threes (4-of-5, .800) in a 14-of-19 (.737) shooting performance that came with six free throws (6-of-6, 1.000), and five rebounds, an assist, and five steals. Junior guard JoHaan Vinson (Philadelphia, Pa.) (21 points) and freshman guard D.J. Johnson (Norristown, Pa.) (16) also scored in double digits. In the second meeting, Clark (18), Vinson (17), and freshman guard Thomas Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) (12) scored in double figures. Johnson was a contributor as well with nine points, four rebounds, three assists, a block, and three steals.
 
Clark led Gwynedd Mercy University in scoring during conference play with 16.6 points per game (PPG). He also averaged 4.9 rebounds (RPG) and 2.0 assists per game (APG). Vinson was second in scoring with 15.8 PPG on top of 3.9 RPG and 1.4 APG. Junior guard Aziz Parker (Westhampton, N.J.) was the third Griffin in double digit scoring average at 10.9. Gwynedd Mercy University ranks first in scoring defense (65.6 points/game) with 63 blocks (5^th) and 201 steals (3^rd). They ranks fifth in scoring offense (69.0 points/game).
