Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (10/25/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (10-10) hosted Rutgers-Camden (12-11) for this evening's Side-Out Foundation Dig Pink match. The Scarlet Raptors grabbed the early lead with a 25-17 win in the opening set, but the Griffins quickly evened the score with a 25-19 triumph in the second set. The pattern repeated in the third and fourth sets with Rutgers-Camden securing a 25-22 win before Gwynedd Mercy University forced the deciding set with a 25-20 victory. Ayanna Gaston (Middletown, Del.) served the Red and Gold to a 3-0 advantage before the Griffins scored four of the last five points in a 15-12 conclusion; 3-2 (17-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-20, 15-12).
The Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink is an event for coaches, athletes, parents, and communities who support the organization's long-standing tradition of raising funds for research and treatments of metastatic breast cancer.

- Gwynedd Mercy University hit .150 (48K-23E-167TA) for the match with their best performance coming in the second set; .222 (12K-4E-36TA).
- The Griffin defense gave the Scarlet Raptors trouble in the second, fourth, and fifth sets as the visitors respectively hit .049 (11K-9E-41TA), .026 (11K-10E-38TA), and .000 (5K-5E-23TA) in those frames.
- The Red and Gold totaled nine team blocks; senior middle hitter Ashley Brown (Lansdale, Pa.) captained the effort with a solo block and five block assists (3.5 blocks).
- Sophomore libero Charlotte Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa.) contributed a team-high 25 digs to the defensive performance. She also recorded six assists and an ace.
- Offensively, outside hitters, freshman Kate Etter (Chambersburg, Pa.) and senior Bria Purnell (Reading, Pa.) combined for 33 kills. Etter added an assist, two block assists, and nine digs to her season-high 17 kills, while Purnell paired her 16 kills with an ace, three block assists, and 16 digs.
- Gaston finished the match with 39 assists, two aces, a solo block, a block assist, and 18 digs.
