Gwynedd Valley, Pa. (10/18/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-6-6, 1-2-1) played host to Marywood University (6-8-1, 1-2-1) as the Griffins looked to move up in the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) standings. Braedon Kehan (Warrington, Pa.) took the corner kick and was able to place a beautiful ball to freshman
Cole Costello (Richboro, Pa.) who was the hero tonight as he scored his first goal (88:32) of his collegiate career allowing the team to pick up a very important point in the standings with a 2-2 tie.
Griffin Highlights:
- At the 50:06 mark, Gwynedd Mercy was able to net their first goal of the contest thanks to graduate midfielder Hugh Lynch (Philadelphia, Pa.) and tying the game 1-1. Assisting on the goal was senior midfielder Mike Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.) as this was his first assist in his senior campaign.
- The Pacers outshot the Griffins 26-15, with Marywood recording 17 shots in the first half, but only nine in the second.
- With this being an AEC contest a lot of intensity and a chippy playstyle was shown as both teams combined for a total of ten cards throughout the match.
- Graduate goalkeeper John Wagner (Phoenixville, Pa.) made his tenth start finishing with a season-high 11 saves on the night in the tie (3-3-4).
Gwynedd Mercy will welcome Neumann University to the Athletic Complex to celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, October 21, for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
