Doylestown, Pa. - (9/7/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University traveled to nearby Doylestown, Pennsylvania to take on Delaware Valley University in a non-conference matchup. The Aggies emerged as a 1-0 victor in a highly-competitive affair thanks to an early tally. Senior midfielder Kaci Murray (Chalfont, Pa.) recorded four of the Griffins' eight shots and sophomore forward Cheyenne Avellino (Egg Harbor, N.J.) put a pair on goal.
 
Delaware Valley University (1-2) took an early lead, scoring on their first shot of the contest; 1-0 (7:51). Gwynedd Mercy University looked to even the spread with penalty a late first-quarter penalty shot and an early second-quarter strike from senior midfielder Haley Didinger (Berlin, N.J.) early in the second, but found the prize on neither. The Griffins turned the pressure up in the second half and out shot the Aggies 6-0 in the later frames. Unfortunately, Gwynedd Mercy University still came away empty handed as the Delaware Valley University defense held before – and after - a late Murray goal was waved off.
 
In addition to Murray, Avellino, and Didinger's shots, senior midfielder Victoria Poust (Warminster, Pa.) also put an attempt on the cage. In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Lawless (Bristol, Pa.) took the loss (1-2).
 
Gwynedd Mercy University looks to bounce back on Friday, September 9, when they host FDU-Florham a 7:00 p.m. home opener and the first of five September home games.
