Allentown, Pa. - (9/3/2022) - Graduate forward Caitlyn Thornton (Ivyland, Pa.) found sophomore forward Amber Sims (Perkasie, Pa.) toward the end of the first quarter (1-0, 14:11) and then sophomore forward Cheyenne Avellino (Egg Harbor, N.J.) in the final minute (2-1, 59:02) to secure Gwynedd Mercy University a dramatic 2-1 victory at Cedar Crest College.

Gwynedd Mercy University controlled play early in the affair, but the Falcons kept the contest competitive despite the Griffins' 20-2 shot margin and 10-1 edge in penalty corners. Senior defender Kaci Murray (Chalfont, Pa.) recorded a team-high four shots while three others; Thornton, Sims, and senior forward Victoria Poust (Warminster, Pa.), recorded three shots apiece. Avellino only needed one shot to score her tally. In goal, sophomore Morgan Lawless (Bristol, Pa.) recorded one save in the win (1-1).

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Wednesday, September 7, when they visit Delaware Valley University for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
