There, the Griffins remained tied with the Greyhounds as late as 15-15 before giving ground in an eventual 25-20 end. Bria Purnell (Reading, Pa.) led the Gwynedd Mercy University offense with seven kills on a .130 (7K-4E-23TA) hitting percentage, while defense was a team effort that totaled 40 digs and two blocks.
Moravian University (6-7) made a strong opening statement with a 25-7 win in the opening set. Gwynedd Mercy University (3-9) challenged the Greyhounds to a 15-15 tie in the second set, but late Griffin errors set the stage for Moravian University to survive in a 25-20 conclusion. The Greyhounds used the momentum to win the third set by a decisive 25-12 measure.

Ayanna Gaston (Middletown, Del.) was a major contributor to the Gwynedd Mercy University effort with three kills, a dozen (12) assists, two block assists, two digs, and the Griffins' only ace. Junior middle hitter
