Griffins Celebrate Senior Class, Mighty Macs Win AEC Score

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (4/9/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-8, 1-1) welcomed Immaculata University (4-7, 1-2) to the GMercyU Athletic Complex for today's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) affair and honored an eight-man senior class in a pregame ceremony that included defenseman Brendan Donovan (Fort Bragg, N.C.), defenseman Joe Amper (Hainesport, N.J.), attack/midfielder John McCreary (Furlong, Pa.), attack Cameron Ostroff (Wilmington, Del.), attack Matt Fultz (Bellefonte, Pa.), attack Will Allen (Wilmington, Del.), defenseman Donny Holden (Claymont, Del.), and goalkeeper Aubron Swartley (Mechanicsburg, Pa.). The Mighty Macs established a 6-1 lead in the first 30 minutes of the contest maintained their distance in the second half of an eventual 10-5 final.

Gwynedd Mercy University spread the ball around with six Griffins contributing in all and three recording at least two points; sophomore midfielder GianLuca Lockhart (Turnersville, N.J.) (1 goal, 1 assist), sophomore midfielder Tyler Long (Downingtown, Pa.) (1, 1), sophomore midfielder Justin Carney (Flemington, N.J.) (1, 1). Ostroff (8:35, 3QTR, MAN-UP), freshman midfielder Richie Hughes (Turnersville, N.J.) (10-5, 5:40 4QTR) also recorded goals for the Griffins. Freshman midfeidler Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) recovered 12 ground balls off a 12-of-16 (.750) effort on the face-off and caused three turnovers. Donovan recorded two ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Swartley (3-7) totaled 16 saves and two ground balls.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the GMercyU Athletic Complex on Wednesday, April 13, to host Neumann University for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
