Scranton, Pa. - (4/30/2022) - #6 Gwynedd Mercy University (5-11) carried their momentum into the postseason as they upset #3 Marywood University (11-6) in today's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Quarterfinal by a 14-9 measure. The Griffins and Pacers matched 3-3 (5:38) in the first quarter. Sophomore midfielder GianLuca Lockhart (Turnersville, N.J.) scored twice (13:54, 10:49) in the period and racked up two more points in the second with an assist to senior attack Cameron Ostroff (Wilimington, Del.) The Pacers scored the last two goals (3:50, 2:58) of the first half, 7-6, but that was as close as they would get to the Griffins with an own goal (8-6, 14:09) and an unassisted score from freshman Richie Hughes (Turnersville, N.J.) (9-6, 12:10) propelling Gwynedd Mercy University to the five-goal victory.

Lockhart added five ground balls to his six points (5 goals, assist). Sophomore attack Jason Eide (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) also recovered five ground balls while scoring his three goals. Sophomore midfielder Nick Flamma (Sewell, N.J.) was the third Griffin with multiple points; he scored his first goal on an assist from sophomore midfielder Tyler Long (Downingtown, Pa.) (6-4, 5:05 2QTR) and his second unassisted with 2:13 (11-7) remaining in the third quarter.
