Radnor, Pa. - (5/4/2022) - Postseason play came to an end today for #6 Gwynedd Mercy University (5-12), who lost tonight's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Semifinal by a 22-2 measure to #1 Cabrini University (14-4). The Cavaliers controlled an 8-1 (0:01) lead after the first quarter. Sophomore midfielder Nick Flamma (Sewell, N.J.) scored the Griffin goal off the feed from sophomore midfielder Jason Eide (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), tying the contest at 1-1 with 10:14 remaining in the opening frame. Unfortunately, Cabrini University scored the next 19 goals, separating for a 13-1 halftime advantage before securing their eventual 20-goal victory.

Senior attack John McCreary (Furlong, Pa.) scored the second Griffin goal, completing a pass from sophomore midfielder Justin Carney (Flemington, N.J.) with 8:43 (20-2) remaining in the fourth quarter. Eide, Carney, and freshman midfielder Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) recovered three ground balls apiece. In goal, senior Aubron Swartley (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) totaled 22 saves in the loss (5-11). It was his fifth game of 20 saves or more this season, a year in which he finishes as the program's single-season save leader - 247 saves - and all-time saves leader - 400 saves.

Gwynedd Mercy University finishes the 2022 season at 5-12 overall and 2-4 in AEC play.
