Langhorne, Pa. - (4/21/2022) - Briefly breaking from their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) schedule, Gwynedd Mercy University (14-16) visited Cairn University (21-11) for a nine-inning affair. The Highlanders held a 4-1 lead after the first two frames and each side added a tally, 5-2, before a high-scoring fifth inning.

There, an error put senior designated hitter Billy Collins (Hatfield, Pa.) aboard for a single to center field from senior center fielder Jack Jamison (Fort Washington, Pa.), a walk to junior first baseman Nick Price (Cherry Hill, N.J.), and a wild pitch that eventually brought him home; 5-3. Another Highlander error and a fielder's choice later, a three-run double from junior third baseman Noah Andress (Levittown, Pa.) gave the Griffins a 6-5 edge. Unfortunately, Cairn University scored five runs in their half of the fifth frame, 10-6, and matched Gwynedd Mercy University the rest of the way in an 15-11 final.

Andress (1-for-3, BB) topped the Gwynedd Mercy University lineup in runs-batted-in (RBI) with his three, but four Griffins recorded multiple hits. Collins was 2-for-4 with three runs, Jamison was 2-for-5 with a walk, a run, a RBI. Price was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run, and two RBI. And freshman right fielder Barry Walker (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) was 2-for-5 with a run.

Gwynedd Mercy University resumes their AEC schedule on Saturday, April 23, when they host Marymount University for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
