FRESHMAN (2022) – Root (16gp-0gs/0gs-16app) was a member of the Griffin bullpen, totaling 20.1 innings in 16 relief appearances. He logged a 1-3 record on a 6.64 earned run average (ERA) that came with 14 walks and 14 strikeouts.

SOPHOMORE (2023) - Root (31gp-27gs) took a monumental step forward during his sophomore campaign, earning All-Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Second Team recognition. He was the Griffins' most consistent hitter in the lineup with a .395 (34-for-86) batting average that ranked second among his AEC peers. He also ranked in the AEC Top-10 for OPS (9^th, .968), OBP (6^th, .480), and strikeouts (T4^th, 11). Root was equally effective on the mound, with AEC Top-10 numbers in innings pitched (9^th, 52.2), wins (T9^th, 4), BAA (7^th, .260), earned runs allowed (6^th, 21), runs allowed (5^th, 25), ERA (5^th, 3.59), and walks (2^nd, 13). He was named the AEC Baseball Player of the Week on April 24 and earned an AEC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll mention on May 8.  Root finished with 16 runs and 42 runs-battted-in (RBI) with a slash line of .395 (34-of-86)/.480/.488 (AVG/OBP/SLG). He also stole three bags this year (3-3, 1.000).

JUNIOR (2024) - Root (40gp-40gs/10gs-11app) tied for second in the league for triples with three. He enjoyed his second straight season of all-league honors as he earned All-AEC First Team recognition with a .285 (39-for-137)/.395/.358 slash line that produced a team-high 27 runs and 17 RBI. On the mound, Root went 2-7 on a 4.74 ERA. He held opponents 33 earned runs 73 hits and 14 walks, while striking out 28 of them and was named to the AEC Weekly Honor Roll on March 25.

SENIOR (2025) - Root (36gp-37gs/9gs-9app) for a second straight season earned All-AEC First Team recognition. Root concluded a brilliant collegiate career with another impressive two-way season. The Red and Gold captain, totaled 21 runs and 31 RBI with a .331 (42-for-127)/.443/.362 slash line. His 26 walks ranked third in the AEC. Meanwhile, on the mound, Root sported a 0-3 record with a 4.71 ERA over 57.1 innings (9app-9gs). He struck out 31 and held his opponents to a .313 BAA. Root was also was named to the 2025 D3Baseball.com All-Region 5 Third Team (Region 5) at the utility position. He was also recognized by the AEC with Weekly Honor Roll mentions on March 31, and April 7.
