Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (3/27/2022) - After a 48-minute flurry delay, Gwynedd Mercy University (7-12, 0-3) and Immaculata University (11-4, 3-0) got the finale of their weekend series underway. The Mighty Macs scored on a sacrifice fly in their first at-bat and the Griffins answered in the bottom of the frame on a ground out from senior designated hitter
Billy Collins (Hatfield, Pa.); 1-1. Immaculata University separated in the third inning, using another sacrifice fly and a one-out single to take a 3-1 lead. Gwynedd Mercy University battled back, cutting the deficit to 3-2 in the fifth inning with a hustle home on a bad pick-off from sophomore center fielder
Barry Walker (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) and tying the score at 3-3 in the sixth inning with a two-out, run-batted-in (RBI) single from senior catcher
Nate Campbell (Royersford, Pa.). Unfortunately, the Griffin rally was all for not as the Mighty Macs stole a 5-3 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) win with solo tallies in the seventh and ninth frames.
Senior second baseman
Jake Martell (Yardley, Pa.) was 2-for-5 with a run in the lead-off role. Senior shortstop
Rob Bailey (Abington, Pa.) was 2-for-3 with a run scored. And Walker added to a brilliant day in the field with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate. Sophomore
Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.) allowed one earned run on six hits and two walks; he struck out two in the first 4.1 innings. Sophomore
Mitchell Bramsway (Temecula, Calif.) threw the final 2.1 innings; he allowed a run on three hits and three walks while striking out five.
Gwynedd Mercy University briefly breaks from their AEC schedule to host Elmira College for a 3:30 p.m. contest on Thursday, March 31.
