Gwynedd Valley, Pa. (3/31/2022) - Featuring 21 runs and lasting over 40 minutes, an extended first inning saw Penn State Abington (13-7) own a narrow 11-10 advantage over Gwynedd Mercy University (7-13). Afterwards, the Nittany Lions increased their advantage with two runs in the second inning (13-10) and a run in the fourth inning (14-10). The Griffins got one back in the fifth inning on a Penn State Abington error (14-11) and cut into the lead by another tally following the eighth home run of the season from senior catcher T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.); 15-13. Unfortunately, the Nittany Lions outscored the Griffins 9-1 in the final two frames of a 25-14 final.

Brasier was 4-for-5 with four runs and two runs-batted-in (RBI) on a pair of singles, a double, and his home run. Five other Griffins recorded multiple hits in the high-scoring affair; sophomore shortstop Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.) (2-for-5, 2 runs, 3 RBI) headlined the group with his three-run home run in the first inning. Senior third baseman Jake Martell (Yardley, Pa.) (2-for-4,BB, R, RBI), senior designated hitter Billy Collins (Hatfield, Pa.) (2-for-5, BB, R, RBI), junior first baseman Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.) (2-for-6, R, 2 RBI), and sophomore right fielder Barry Walker (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) (2-for-4, BB, R, RBI) were the others. 

Gwynedd Mercy University is scheduled to host Marywood University for a 3:00 p.m. Atlantic East Conference (AEC) tomorrow, Friday, April 1.
