Griffins Score Four In Second, But Aggies Steal Win with Five-Run Fifth

Doylestown, Pa. - (3/22/2022) - Four doubles and a single brought home four Griffins in the top of the second inning, 4-0. Unfortunately, Gwynedd Mercy University (7-9) lost today's game to Delaware Valley University (6-6) as the Aggies cut the deficit in half with two runs in the fourth inning, 4-2, and surpassed the Griffins with five runs in the fifth inning; 7-4. Four Griffins recorded multiple hits; senior catcher T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) was one of them, knocking a pair of runs with his second-inning double down the left field line. Senior Bill Collins (Hatfield, Pa.) offered three inning of good work at the start of the game; he allowed a hit and walked two while striking out four.

Senior left fielder Nate Campbell (Royersford, Pa.) led off the second inning with a double down the left field line. He advanced to third on a single from senior shortstop Rob Bailey (Abington, Pa.) and scored on a double to left field from sophomore right fielder Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.), 1-0. Two-outs later, Brasier's double down the left field line brought home Bailey and Ebling, 3-0. Brasier advanced to third on a passed ball and became the Griffins' fourth run on a double to left center from senior first baseman Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.), 4-0. In addition to Brasier, Price (2-for-5), Collins (2-for-5), and Campbell (2-for-4) recorded two hits apiece.

Gwynedd Mercy University opens their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) schedule on Friday, March 25, when they host Immaculata University in a 3:00 p.m. contest.
