Immaculata, Pa. - (3/26/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (7-11, 0-2) opened their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) schedule with today's twin bill at Immaculata University. The Mighty Macs split 13 runs between the third (7 runs) and sixth (6) innings, overshadowing a pair of solo home runs from senior right fielder T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) and a first-inning run-scoring single from senior catcher Nate Campbell (Royersford, Pa.); 13-3. The Immaculata University scored the first seven runs of the nightcap before another Braiser solo shot broke up the shutout in an eventual 12-1 final.

Brasier upped his early-season home run total to seven with his three home-run day; he was 2-for-4 with two runs and two runs-batted-in (RBI) in the opener and 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI in game two. Senior left fielder Brett Swire (Boyertown, Pa.) scored on Campbell's single to left field in game one. Sophomore Joe Golden (Churchville, Pa.) pitched a solid four outs, allowing only a hit and striking out two over 1.1 innings of work. In game two, senior first baseman Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.) (2-for-4) was the only Griffin to record multiple hits. This time, sophomore Giovanni D'Amore (Ambler, Pa.) offered four outs of solid relief. He struck out one.

Gwynedd Mercy University and Immaculata University conclude their AEC series tomorrow, Sunday, March 27, when the Griffins host the Mighty Macs for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
