true 1 Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (3/15/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (0-8) visited Swarthmore College (7-2) this afternoon for their first doubleheader of the season. The Garnet scored a pair of runs in both the bottom of the first and third innings of the first game. The Griffins responded with a fourth-inning, run-scoring single from sophomore pitcher/third baseman Ashley Focht (Harrisburg, Pa.), but the tally was not enough to sway deny Swarthmore College an eventual 7-2 victory. Unfortunately, the Gwynedd Mercy University did not have a chance at revenge as the second game of the twin bill was called at the top of the fourth inning due to darkness.

Focht was 1-for-4 and took the loss (0-3). She allowed six earned runs on 11 hits and three walks, while striking out two. Freshman catcher Kaylee Colantano (Clinton, N.J.) recorded the other Griffin run-batted-in (RBI) with a two-out single in the sixth inning.

Gwynedd Mercy University opens their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) schedule this Saturday, March 19, with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader at Neumann University.
