Frederick, Md. - (2/26/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-3) owned a 6-5 lead after their sixth at-bat of game one and a 2-1 lead after their eighth at-bat of game two, 2-1, but were not able to come away with the win in either affair as Hood College (3-3) won both games of the twin bill by respective finals of 8-6 and 5-3.

Senior third baseman Jake Martell (Yardley, Pa.) was 4-for-4 with a three-run double in the fourth inning of game one. Senior first baseman Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.) was 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in the third inning and a pair of runs scored, while senior left fielder Brett Swire (Boyertown, Pa.) knocked in two runs with a fifth inning sacrifice fly and a sixth-inning single. Senior center fielder Jack Jamison ( Fort Washington, Pa.) walked once and scored twice; the first time on Price's sacrifice fly and the second time on Martell's big double.

In game two, senior catcher T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) was 3-for-4 with a run scored the three runs-batted-in (RBI) while sophomore right fielder Barry Walker (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Junior Trey Livingstone (Pennsburg, Pa.) dealt for the first 17 outs of the opener as he held the Blazers scoreless through 5.2 innings. He allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out four.

Gwynedd Mercy University plays next on Tuesday, March 1, when they meet the University of Valley Forge for a 2:00 p.m. contest at the James Ramp Recreation Center.
