Scranton, Pa. - (1/26/2022) - Graduate forward Justin Collins (Springfield, Pa.) beat the regulation buzzer with a three-point basket that forced overtime in tonight's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) contest at Marywood University (7-10, 2-3); 73-73 (0:00). In the extra frame, a 7-0 Gwynedd Mercy University (10-6, 2-2) run and a pair of clutch buckets from graduate guard Keith Otto (Langhorne, Pa.) (0:43, 0:19) kept the Griffins at a safe distance from any Pacer threat in an 86-83 (0:00) conclusion. Otto finished with 11 points as one of five Griffins in double figures as Gwynedd Mercy University was led by a 23-point, 12-rebound double-double from senior guard Ty Jones (Harlem, N.Y.), whose third such feat in the last four games was accompanied by a block and three steals on the defensive end. Sophomore guard Manny Clark (Pottsgrove, Pa) contributed 17 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and three steals in a command performance, while graduate forward Donaven Spencer (Timber Creek, N.J.) factored in the decision with 12 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Sophomore forward Mike McCants Jr. (Newark, Del.) enjoyed his first double-digit performance of the season with 10 points on 4-of-5 (.800) shooting and a pair of free throws (2-of-2, 1.000).

Gwynedd Mercy University opened with a 14-0 (14:48) run that spanned the first five minutes of the affair. But over the next seven minutes, Marywood University battled back to knot score at 19-19 (7:13). From there, the contest remained tight with the Griffins leading the Pacers to a 35-31 (0:45) halftime spread and the 73-73 (0:00) regulation stalemate. Gwynedd Mercy University won the turnover battle - 11-17 - to overcome the home team's superior shooting (43.3% - 38.2%) and rebounding (45-39) efforts.
